Trimper’s Inlet Village was built in 1983 to compete with the former Shanty Town Village in West Ocean City. Modeled after a quant fishing village, the Inlet Village offers a small set of unique stores with hard-to-find gifts and novelties. Originally, the majority of the stores in the village were operated by Trimper family members. As time progressed, however, more stores became leased to outsiders.

When the village first opened, it was very popular and offered a distinct shopping experience for boardwalk-goers. During the time of its construction, the boardwalk was still very much underdeveloped and nice shopping facilities were hard to find.

In recent years, the village has taken a hit because of the booming shopping industry in Ocean City and Rehoboth. The Route 50 outlets and Rehoboth outlets offer much more than the Inlet Village can, and as a result, it has suffered traffic and business.

Nevertheless, in its current state, the village still has many enticing stores and offers a nice assortment of food venues. The most popular places include Harrison’s Harborwatch, OC Frogs Grill & Bar, which was recently purchased in February of 2007 and remodeled, Toyland and Bear & Co.

Whether you’re into the hustle bustle of the city or in the mood for a quiet stroll along a calm boardwalk, the Inlet Village is certainly a welcoming place to stop and shop!
